Swift treatment for verrucae and warts
Verrucae have historically been very difficult to treat and resolve. Common treatment methods using cryotherapy (freezing) and acid having very low success rates (40%-50%).
Swift® is a scientifically proven solution that resolves up to 83% of verrucae and warts.
How does it work?
Swift uses microwave energy to heat shock the verruca, stimulating the immune response to recognise and destroy the virus. The treatment is directed locally to the verruca and wart meaning no surrounding tissue damage.
What to expect?
Based on research, the optimum number of treatments required will be three to four spaced at four weeks apart with a twelve week review period after the final treatment. Although Swift is currently the most successful treatment for verrucae and warts at 83%, there is still no 100% guarantee that the verrucae or warts will resolve.
What happens at the treatment?
The Podiatrist will take a medical history and suitability assessment. There are some contraindications for Swift treatment although these are very few. Photos may be taken of the verruca to monitor progress. If there are multiple verrucae, most if not all verrucae can be treated within the appointment. Occasionally the verruca may need hard skin removing from the surface to enable good probe contact. Each verruca treated will have three to five applications of swift. Each application usually lasts two seconds. No dressing will be necessary post treatment.
Does it hurt?
Each application (up to five per verruca) of two seconds causes a short intense heat/sting like sensation. Once the two second treatment finishes the pain diminishes to zero pain. The good news is that there is no pain when the treatment is complete and no need for anaesthetic.
Costs?
Although more expensive per treatment, the amount of treatments required is less than other traditional treatment methods, thereby more cost effective. The number of treatments based on research for most people is three to four. Some needing less, generally children. Please see current price list for cost per treatment.
